Fabiana Bahna

The overall aim of my scientific work is to understand the binding mechanism
and specificity of cadherin cell-cell adhesion proteins, which are the primary proteins
that hold cells together to form tissues. We use X-ray crystallography to determine
three dimensional structures for various members of the cadherin family. We also test
our mechanistic hypotheses in transfected cell systems and animal studies.
